What will be covered in 8 weeks during the project

Week 1

Piping Fundamentals
In this week students will understand how piping engineers work start in EPC industry / oil andgas industry. What are codes and standards of piping?

Week 2

P&ID reading
We will consider an industrial P&ID and will see how to read a P&ID. Student’s will demonstrate their skills at the end of the week that how they can read any given P&ID in the industry when they will be recruited as Piping Engineer.

Week 3

Piping Length Calculations
Before erection of piping plant, exact dimensions of pipe and components are needed that are calculated from P&ID as per ASME standards. No piping engineer can skip this step.

Week 4

Supports Stanchion length calculations
In piping various supports are provided at specified location in order to maintain equilibrium of the piping loads. So in this week interns will get the touch how piping engineer do this in industry and they will showcase their skill on various industrial assignment problems.

Week 5

Material take off and Bill of material
Before a vendor can bid for or begin a construction project, they have to know the types and quantities of the various materials required to complete it. This is to identify an exact estimateof the costs and material requirements, and also to provide an indication of the labor costs associated with the installation or construction of the materials. This process is known as material take off (MTO), construction takeoff, or simply as takeoff. It’s an essential part of a project estimation process. It is completed in three stages and Bill of Material (BOM) is prepared by MTO. So in this week interns work on this tedious task which requires a lot of experience.

Week 6

Piping Stresses and calculations
In this week we will discuss about stresses in piping and how to calculate them. Students will be given different case studies to practice.

Week 7 & 8

Final project of P&ID isometric in Autocad
In the final week final project will be submitted which will require all the skills that were developed in preceding weeks and will develop an isometric P&ID in Autodesk Autocad.
